In addition to our monthly meetings, the Vermont Autism Task Force holds two public events every year: Autism Awareness Day in April and an Open House Meeting in the Fall.
Autism Awareness Day
The Vermont Autism Task Force will be hosting an awareness celebration at the Vermont State House cafeteria from 4:15-6:30pm on Wednesday, April 2, 2014.
The "Meet, Greet and Eat" begins at 4:15. This is a kid friendly event with food, games and fun! Come and meet with other people on the spectrum plus families, legislators and state officials.
Autism spectrum disorder is the fastest, growing developmental disability with 1 in 88 children diagnosed in the Unites States. There is no known cause, cure, or prognosis for people with ASD. According to the national organization, Autism Speaks, "more children will be diagnosed with autism this year than with AIDS, diabetes & cancer combined".
Annual Open House Meeting
We hold an Open House meeting in the fall at an alternative location from our regular meetings in Berlin. The public is welcome to join us and learn about what we do and share information with us. Members decide on the location of the event in the fall. Please come!
